History Of Association

The foundation stone of Gatka Federation of India was laid on 07/06/2009 at Mohali. At that time a meeting of all Punjab Gatka Association members was held under the president ship of S. Harcharan Singh Bhullar (IPS). With the unanimous concent of all members Harcharan Singh Bhullar was appointed as the President of the GFI. Harjit Singh Grewal was appointed as General Secretary.

This registration was done with the cooperation of the entire Sangat. With the cooperation of all the members of the Federation and the sangat, the Federation has been progressing continuously.

On 12.12.2015. Baljinder Singh Toor has been appointed General Secretary of Gatka Federation of India, who is currently serving.

So far 4 National level Open Gatka championships have been organized by the Gatka Federation of India. Also 7 National level Ek Onkar Gatka Cups add into the achievements of Federation. Hundreds of Gatka competitions and dozens of training camps have been set up for players and referees by GFI all over India.

Due to the efforts of Gatka Federation of India, Gatka has been recognized as a sport in the School Games and in the universities and colleges.

All State Associations are working under the leadership of Gatka Federation of India.

While the main objective of the Federation is to give due respect to the players, referees and Gatka coaches, it is also striving to give this game equal respect to other sports.
